Question

On Sangfor Cloud Platform 6.11.1, virtual machine Instant Restore jobs fail with the below error and the restore process stops at the “Creating storage” stage.

Failed to start job, [#46] Job error.
Failed to create storage 'ir_nas_store_0'

Answer

Issue Description

Error code [#46] indicates Vinchin is unable to create the temporary storage required for Instant Restore.

This issue occurs when the target Sangfor HCI host cannot mount the temporary NFS share exported by the Vinchin backup server.

In this case, the failure is triggered by the customer's internal firewall blocking NFS-related ports.

Resolution

Enable NFS communication between the Vinchin backup server and target Sangfor HCI hosts.

Step 1. Update Firewall Policy

On network firewalls or security groups, open the below ports between the Vinchin backup server and target Sangfor hosts:
  • TCP/UDP 111 (rpcbind)
  • TCP/UDP 2049 (NFS main service)

Step 2. Verify NFS Connectivity

Log in to the target Sangfor HCI host and manually test mounting the NFS share from the backup server:

mount -t nfs <Backup_Server_IP>:/<NFS_Share_Path> /mnt

Confirm the mount succeeds and files within the share can be accessed normally.

Step 3. Rerun the Instant Restore Job

Retry the Instant Restore task in the Vinchin web console.

Verify the “Creating NFS mount point” and “Creating storage” steps complete successfully.

If the issue isn’t solved after the above operations, please contact vinchin support for help.
