Facebook and Instagram restored after outages

Recently, there was a widespread service outage on Meta social media platforms, including Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and Threads. According to data from Downdetector, a website that tracks service disruptions, the impact of this outage was extensive. Over 500,000 users reported issues with Facebook, approximately 77,000 Instagram users, and 12,000 Messenger users also experienced disruptions. The outage began shortly after 10 a.m. EST on March 5th and gradually subsided over the course of an hour. It affected not only the United States but also the United Kingdom, Canada, and Mexico. 

Meta stated that the issue causing the outage had been resolved, and they provided remedies for users who were unable to access the websites during the past few hours. Regarding the outage, Meta's spokesperson, Andy Stone, stated in a post on X that "earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted."
