KPC Pharmaceuticals, Inc. was established in March 1951 and floated on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in December 2000. Based on Yunnan’s abundant plant resources, KPC has developed more than 40 new natural botanical drugs, including the artemether series, panax notoginseng series, gastrodine series, special Chinese medicines and special ethnic drugs.

The medications developed by KPC provide significant protection for human health. With the development of new drugs, the amount of research-generated data has been increasing as well as the cost of data loss, imposing significant data security pressure on KPC. Firstly, the private cloud platform currently hosts critical systems for data analysis and drug synthesis. It is necessary to ensure business continuity, minimize downtime, and guarantee the continuous and stable progress of drug development. Secondly, a vast amount of data is generated through research and stored on the instrument PCs in the research institute. It is essential to back up this data and support retention for 20 years or more for traceability purposes. Lastly, backup solutions are needed for the SQL server databases that support core business operations without consuming additional resources on the production hosts.
