Curtis Stanhope Performance depends a lot on CPU single-thread performance, amount of RAM, and disk I/O. For coding, web dev, and small app builds it’s fine if you give the VM enough cores and an SSD. Don’t expect perfect GPU acceleration — heavy video work or 3D is hit or miss.

Kenneth Winslow I used Workstation 16 and then 17 — both worked once I enabled virtualization (VT-x/AMD-V) in BIOS. On Windows make sure Hyper-V is disabled (it conflicts with VMware). Also update your host chipset drivers — that fixed a bunch of weird VM freezes for me.
