"Hello,

I am using Vinchin Backup & Recovery (v8.1.0) to manage my virtual environment, which includes both a Proxmox VE cluster and an XCP-ng cluster. Both hosts are successfully added to Vinchin under 'Virtual Platform List' and show up as 'Licensed'.

However, I am encountering an issue when attempting a cross-platform (V2V) restore:

When I try to restore a VM backup from the XCP-ng host, the Proxmox host does not appear as a possible destination. Only the XCP-ng host options are shown.

Similarly, when I try to restore a VM backup from the Proxmox host, the XCP-ng host does not appear as a destination. Only the Proxmox host options are shown.

It seems Vinchin is filtering the destination hosts by the source platform, even though V2V migration is a core feature.

What steps should I take within Vinchin to ensure that both Proxmox and XCP-ng hosts appear as valid cross-platform restore destinations?"

Hi,

For Proxmox → XCP-ng migration, please make sure you first select the backup of the Proxmox VM as the restore point. After that, in Step 2 (Restore Destination), you should be able to choose your XCP-ng host as the target host.

Select the backup of Proxmox VM
Select the XCP-ng host as the target host
Select Once-off Restore

Submit the job

The same logic applies when performing XCP-ng → Proxmox restoration.
