I encountered an error while performing an Oracle database backup using RMAN, resulting in the backup task failure. Details are as follows:

Error Message: RMAN backup process threw ERROR:300037 check archive log open error.

Issue Symptom: The backup job cannot complete, with this error explicitly logged in the system logs.

The direct symptom of this backup failure was the RMAN error “ERROR:300037 check archive log open error.” The root cause was that the database user's password was about to expire, preventing the Vinchin backup software from establishing a valid database connection and subsequently from accessing and backing up the archive logs. The solution involved re-authenticating the instance through database management tools to verify the password status. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by modifying the database user password and setting a reasonable expiration period.
